Bethel Ministries and Partners

At Bethel Lutheran Church, our ministry model is Christ-centered, Spirit-led, and community-focused. Rooted in the Gospel, we seek to live out our calling by loving God, serving people, and transforming lives. Our ministry flows through four key pillars:

Worship, where we gather in Spirit-filled praise and the Word;

Discipleship, where we grow in faith through Bible study and spiritual formation;

Outreach, where we meet needs and share Christ’s love in our community and beyond;

Outreach Ministries at Bethel include:

Free Lunch Thursdays

Christmas Sharing Store

Prison/Reentry Ministry

Leadership Development, where we equip and empower believers to serve in ministry.

Everything we do is grounded in prayer, shaped by God’s Word, and driven by a passion to not just go to church—but  be the Church.

1 Corinthians 12:4-7

Now there are varieties of gifts but the same Spirit, and there are varieties of services but the same Lord, and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

Bethel New Life

Bethel New Life was birthed out of the ministry of Bethel Lutheran Church in the West Garfield Park community in the 1970s. In 1979, Bethel Housing was founded when the church bought an abandoned 3-flat from HUD for $250 and through sweat equity restored the building. Since then, Bethel has earned a national reputation for cutting edge initiatives and pioneering approaches that build on the people, physical assets, and faith base of the community.
